Mining the MOON! just WTF NASA?

 Mining the MOON! just WTF?

It has came to light that Nasa is looking for private companies to mine the moon for rocks and dust as part of their Artemis program and to achieved by 2024, only a short 4 year period, that'll e some task to achieve.

According to NASA they want his material for research purposes primarily for the purpose of having a long term base on the moon i.e. living on the moon which in turn provides a platform for further exploration to Mars, fueling the journey of perhaps moving to mars.

Sounds like good human progress don't it?

Thing is with such a short period of time for completion and controversially to the blog itself this would not allow all companies to bid for the work, it would only allow companies that have space exploration technology ready and waiting to complete and these people are already in the 1% income brackets of the world.

What are they bidding for ? Up to an incredible $25,000 for 500 grams....yes grams!!! They'll receive:

  • 10% upon award - yeah great, these companies earn without doing anything!
  • 10% on launch - again before they've even retrieved the 'goods'
  • 80%  upon completion

Bear in mind the only ones able to take on this venture are the already super super rich like Elon Musk (spacex), Jeff Bezos (blueorigin) & Richard Branson (Virgin Atlantic) and of course Bill Gates upon which many computers get their programs and components from. The very same people with their fingers in many pies & monopolizing the world economies in their own favour.

now I have more than a few things to say on the subject.... lets start by quoting NASA from their blog posts and the nonsense in them:

"The scientific discoveries gained through robust, sustainable, and safe lunar exploration will benefit all of humanity. By continuing to publicly release our data, NASA will ensure the whole world joins us and benefits from the Artemis journey."

  1. Sustainable - HMM, I don't think raiding the earths resources to visit the moon or otherwise is really required, since you know we still live on Earth!
  2. Benefit all humanity - What are you taking about? how does raiding the earths resources benefit all, what about the people who live in the areas you mine or spending the money on poverty prevention, there are so many wrongs in this world that could be solved instead of venturing into space!
  3. Ensure the whole world joins us - Yeah, of course because we'll be the ones suffering the effects of climate change brought on by pursuits of knowledge that humans don't seem to understand the cost of, materials don't come from no where!

Shh! Don't let the Kids hear!!

What a lot of BULL!!

1. Who gave permission to mine the moon in the first place? Since the moon is not nor cannot be owned by one person, country or government, which is clearly lad out in the Outer space treaty and since the moon affects life on earth this decision should not be made by the few nor out of sight and controversially to the treaty agreement most people on earth will not nor never see the benefits of this expedition.

We are far more likely to feel the effects with large areas of land being stripped for the precious metals that are required for space exploration. We already know that is we rip up the Eco-systems these have an affect on out weather systems....this is getting worse every year!

2. Why is there any need to mine the moon! Com'mon it's not like there isn't more than enough down here..if we stop destroying it in pursuit of knowledge and greed. We are not the owners of earth, it is not our property to do what we will, we are part of nature not owners of it!

Emissions from these additional Space launches will only speed up global warming! the debris that comes off these rockets when it pierces through the ozone layer and atmosphere and increases the amount of metal based space junk orbiting our earth. Remember metal is attracted to magnet forces....which earth is surrounded in, its only a matter of time.

3. Has anybody calculated the effect that mining the moon would have on our earth and in particular our tides? I highly doubt it with the Nasa's direct disregard for what effect they have on this planet in the pursuit of knowledge.

The moon affects our tides, what we currently see is a surge in tide heights after a super moon. so what happens when we start removing chunks of the moon, reducing the moon's mass whilst increasing earth's mass? both affect gravitational force and in turn affect orbits.

I don't think we really want to see even more tsunami's.

Someone please try to explain the benefits to this pursuit to mine the moon when these are just some of the effects that will occur in doing so, really, ask yourself what will we be leaving for future generations?
